Sheldon  > Photography > Traditional Black & White
Black and white speaks in a different way than does color. More subjective, perhaps. The content isn't influenced by the attractiveness of coloration. Yet I choose to apply warm toning in over 90% of my B&W work; a simple form of coloration. I think toning, however, merely provides an overall feel to the photo, not an attractiveness in and of itself.

Sheldon > Loxahatchee Road area of Loxahatchee game preserve. A beautiful place to enjoy nature for a bit. Even had a short snooze. My little 7 meg pocket camera.
Sheldon > Farm, Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts. Kind of a Wyeth look, I think. Minolta x-700; 35mm black and white neg.
Sheldon > Atlantis falls black and white. Canon 20D. Color original with black and white conversion techniques applied.
Sheldon > A man and his pet, Tel Aviv. I swear the camel was smiling for the camera . . . Black and white digital conversion from roll-film transparency.
Sheldon > Heron. Canon 20D. High key shot into the rising sun. Wakadohatchee Wetland preserve.
Sheldon > Ballet rehearsal, Amphitheater, Athens. One day I will return. A magnificent, historical place to be!
Sheldon > Arab nap, old building, Tel Aviv. The sun was high. It was so hot that not many people were about. I planted the 'pod and fired away.
Sheldon > Pensive moment, 6 AM, Deerfield Beach, Florida. The composition would not be as strong were the birds in the lower left not there. Dimage 7, color conversion.
Sheldon > Horse pasture, Maui, Hawaii. A part of Hawaii many tourists don't get to see . ..
Sheldon > A young fir tree shot at a small Boca Raton nature reserve. Dimage 7; color conversion. Simulated a deep green filter to render the greenery light against dark.
Sheldon > The Western Wall, Israel. The rushing man in the lower left helps the composition. Although some have argued the opposite, I believe he counter-balances the massive power of the wall. Note the head-high dark line where for ages people have placed their hands.
Sheldon > My pal Dick DiCenso giving a clinic on drumset technique. The best of the best.
Sheldon > Friend Dick Johnson, Great reeds. Duotone.
Sheldon > Friend Louis Belson giving a clinic. And what a clinic it was! Never saw better chops. And always a gentleman with a kind word. A fine role model for the kids . . . I kept the rendition cool here for the 'punchier' look.
Sheldon > My friend Buddy Rich teaching the kids . . . R.I.P.
